Doug joined Rice Sullivan, LLC in 1998. In his role as Principal, he manages the day-to-day operations of the firm’s Ellisville, Missouri office location. Beyond his management responsibilities, Doug specializes in providing tax and small business consulting services to the firm’s clients. He is also heavily involved in the firm’s retirement planning department. Doug has experience working with clients in a broad range of industries including real estate, technology and construction.
Before graduating from St. Louis University, Doug had a jumpstart on his professional career. While working towards a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, he acquired hands-on experience as an intern at a St. Louis accounting firm. In this position, Doug gained practical, invaluable experience in the accounting field, better preparing him for his career at Rice Sullivan, LLC.
Doug was inspired to venture into a career in accounting during college. Specifically, his introductory accounting professor, who had extensive business experience, frequently related accounting to real work business examples. This particular course helped Doug realize the importance of accounting in all aspects of running a business.
Today Doug attributes his success to his strong work ethic and the endless support of his family. From a young age, his family always supported his career ambitions, and his wife has continued to be his strongest advocate. In addition, Doug’s father has been a role model to him throughout his life. They have built a relationship not only as father and son, but also as business partners in various real estate investments.
Doug grew up in Swansea, Illinois and currently resides in Smithton with his wife and two daughters. While away from the office, he manages real estate investments and enjoys taking summer trips to Table Rock Lake with his family and friends.
